DRATS!!!

Drats!!! are perhaps our most ambitious act in the whothehellisjim? family. This six-piece box of chicken McNuggets consists of Alex Gall, Chad Deitchley, Chairman, Lujon Bustillos, maddog, and Yoon. These guys have been making catchy powerful pop numbers that will fuck your mind and leave you pensively smoking cigarettes and wondering what the hell just happened. Spawned from the demise of Portland-based Vulture Party in 2002, the six remaining members formed Drats!!! defined themselves with a more stream-lined rock sound while still maintaining a propensity for accomodating a wide assortment a styles and influences. Not long after forming in the summer of 2002, Drats!!! have been maintaining a strong Portland presence averaging over 12 shows per year. Perfoming their unique and energetic take on rock, they have gained a loyal group of freaks they call fans (or Drat-Heads to the Heads).

Drats!!! debuted their sound in 2004 with their EP, Suicide Candy. This release featured such early Drats!!! hits as Art Neuveau, Domestic World Music and Experiment. This release was recorded by Ben Lund at Instafame studios in Milwaukee OR. This release was the first whothehellisjim? release to receive "actual real press". We didn't have to make it up this time. Reviews were generally favorable with many comparisons to early punk and new wave bands of the late 70s and early eighties.

2007 is looking promising to Drats!!! The release of Welcome to New Granada has caught the attention of both music and film lovers alike. Based on the 1979 cult classic, Over the Edge, Drats!!! have pulled off their most ambitious effort yet with a fully realized rock-operetta. This 10-song collection of tunes inspired by the movie was masterfully produced and engineered by Jared See (AKA Fester) at Haywire Studios in Portland, OR. This recording definitely marks a new chapter in the history of whothehellisjim? entertainment. Never before has our talent been so professionally captured as this.

Drats!!! plan on recording a full-length record in spring this year.
